Want to sharpen up your bargaining and communication skills? Then the new Crown Union Leadership Program might be for you.
United Voice, in conjunction with the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) Organising Centre, has designed a program which will provide Union delegates, leaders and activists with specialist training in a range of areas, including enforcing your EA, Union-building and representation.
The Core Skills for Delegates course will cover the following topics:
- How to join other people up to our union
- Ways to work with other union members to win change in the workplace
- How the EA and the legal system can work for us
- How to help other members if they have issues (including meetings with Crown management)
The course will be delivered by expert trainers from the ACTU, assisted by United Voice officials and delegates and it's available to all union delegates, with advanced and specialist training also on offer. The couse will run for two consecutive days and will be delivered on paid time by using our delegate training entitlement under the EA. The training will occur at the United Voice office in North Melbourne with the first courses running in July, and throughout the rest of 2014.
Later in 2014, advanced and specialist training modules in areas like industrial representation, OHS and advanced organising will also be available. These electives will be available to all graduates of the Core Skills program.
