When a new, secretive and unfair tips procedure was introduced in food and beverage outlets, casino staff were not happy. Tips are a huge issue in F&B, especially for part-time staff who don't always get enough shifts to survive on.
New union leader and F&B Attendant, David Ha, decided enough was enough. He spoke with his colleagues, organised group meetings and created a team of active union members to fight back.
After a petition demanding respect and a say in how tip distribution was decided was signed by a huge number of staff and more staff joined our union. That gave union members the strength to win the right to a fair and transparent system for distributing tips across the outlet.
And best of all, union power is now stronger than ever across the department, so F&B can keep on winning.
